TRANSFORMATIONAL TECHNOLOGY SERVICE NOW PART OF FAS

The status of GSA’s Transformational Technology Service (TTS) as a full-blown, national service was short-lived.  Per an announcement from acting GSA Administrator Tim Horne last week, TTS will now be part of GSA’s Federal Acquisition Service.  TTS will continue to manage core missions like 18F, but will work more closely with the acquisition and federal arena expertise of FAS’ Information Technology Service.  In announcing the move Horne stated that, while TTS and FAS have produced impressive results separately, “… the Trump administration is seeking even greater success requiring the efforts of a larger and diversified organization.”  TTS innovations may now have a better chance to working with acquisition programs such as Alliant, the IT 70 Schedule, and the future EIS contract, perhaps resulting in the availability of more cutting edge solutions and services through those vehicles.  Customer agencies will also be better able to get one-stop IT solutions from GSA from the more unified organization.  Traditional FAS contractors may not have fully understood what TTS was all about.  They should now have a chance to find out and understand ways to potentially leverage what TTS has to offer.
