WHICH CONTRACT TO USE? HELP YOUR CUSTOMER DECIDE

The GSA Schedule, NASA SEWP, NIH CIO-CS and smaller Indefinite Delivery/Indefinite Quantity contracts are important ways to close federal business in the last quarter.  Federal customers appreciate the speed at which orders can be placed and fulfilled through such vehicles.  In addition, agencies needing to meet their small business use goals usually have a wide variety of small IDIQ contract holders from which to choose.  Over one-third of an IDIQ’s annual business can be driven in the last 2-3 months of the fiscal year.  Contractors should not, however, force their customers to choose from too many contracting options.  While it is important to have good vehicles, too many companies are hesitant to recommend a preferred method, or two, to their customers.  Forcing your customer to choose from multiple contract vehicles simply defeats some of the key benefits of using these acquisition methods.  Make sure you’re prepared to show your federal customer why a specific contract method can meet their need – and get them to you – with minimal hassle.
