GSA ADMITS THE OBVIOUS: SUPPORT FOR SCHEDULES HAS GONE LAGGING

FAS Deputy Commissioner Kevin Youel Page said at the Coalition for Government Procurement conference last week that the agency has not done enough to ensure the Multiple Award Schedule program has been brought up to speed.  Though he was referring to pricing (see above), Youel Page is absolutely right.  Not since Bill Gormley and Carolyn Alston left the agency has GSA senior management done much to support the Schedules.  Schedules aren’t as headline grabbing as Alliant or OASIS, but drive more business by far than those two programs combined.  Each of those smaller programs has a program manager.  Shouldn’t the Schedules program have one as well?  The MAS program is like any other inherently good program.  It functions best when given proper care and feeding.  Unfortunately, it’s received a decade or more of neglect.  Give it the attention it deserves and watch it, and GSA overall, shine.
